I think some folks are comparing apples and oranges -- a LSV in one of TV's cottages is not the same as renting someone's home (even if a lifestyle visit). If you rent a home (even if a LSV), you're not guaranteed a bike; walking distance to a town square; a golf cart. If you're staying in TV's cottages, thinking you would have a phone and internet access is not unreasonable. These are NOT private homes -- these are houses set up specifically for short visits while sales people show you homes. It does not seem unreasonable that people staying in the cottages be given a simple warning (as senior citizen was) that there is no phone or internet in the premises. I doubt it would be all that difficult to set up a WiFi network for those areas specifically set up for LSVs.

The other thing to consider is that djm's original post was a copy of an email sent while he was obviously upset. Don't know about you, but I have a tendency to make typos, leave out words, say things I later regret when upset (tis one of the reasons I have a 24-hr rule about sending an email when upset and a 1-hr rule when replying in a forum when I don't like what is being said).

I sincerely doubt that a nice phrasing would have made a bit of difference to most responders -- they felt it was a petty complaint and treated it and djm as such. Just because it wasn't important to you when you were visiting doesn't mean it isn't important to the next person. djm tried to give people doing an LSV a head's up that there was no internet (obviously, no phone was not a big deal).
