the history of Tosca
Napoleon's
lengthy stay in Egypt had a profound effect on the affairs in Italy as can be seen in the
opera Tosca which sees French
might wane under Austrian pressure. The Austrians take advantage of Napoleon's
inept handling of a campaign for a while but the battlefield had always been Bonaparte's
campus and he soon
bounced back from defeat probably causing a
tirade of curses from the Italians who had wanted to take back power. There would be a
hefty price to pay the victorious Napoleon.
