I think the above poster is being too general in his stereotyping of high schools. I am sure that Miami's area has some excellent high schools and produces some great college ready kids who will become leaders of business in the future. Miami - as well as most other major cities - has pockets of extreme poverty and disadvantaged people. The schools in those areas are not good and the students will have a hard time of making it to the top of the business world - but some might do so! Others will not.
It is culture; it is how much nurturing the kids get at home; it is environment that makes a great deal of how inner city youth make their future.
The above poster said, "I only hired the brightest and best educated based on nothing more than their ability to fill the specific position and based on their desire to contribute."
In order to have the best educated, you have to have the best education system - and that does not happen in most inner city schools.
