Why did Manalo do that instead of immediately calling 911 himself even though Zimmerman supposedly was on the phone to 911? Police had not arrived yet. Plenty of time for injuries to be conjured up?

When the State was questioning Mr. Manalo they asked him to repeat what Mr. Zimmerman said to him upon coming face-to-face. To paraphrase, the State said, 'Did Mr. Zimmerman say he had shot someone and asked you to call his wife?" Mr. Manalo responded, 'yes,' but added 'I was defending myself.' Mr. Manalo went further and said Mr. Zimmerman said, 'I was defending myself and shot someone. Call my wife.' The word 'defending' could have taken Mr. Manalo's thought processes down a different road entirely. He didn't call 911 immediately because Mr. Zimmerman said he had already called 911. In other words, Mr. Zimmerman called 911 immediately upon getting up and before Mr. Manalo arrived on the scene. This was corroborated by the playback of this 911 call from Mr. Zimmerman.
