Is there some thing to coat the tiles with to improve traction? I hear there is a substance to apply to driveway coatings, not sure if it works for tile. Or should the tiles get ripped out and replaced with something other?

There are some good products out there that can work. I bet even a sealer, and spreading sand on it could work. Also can grind it to make it rough. A smooth tile is not good for outside, even when it doesn't rain. Humidity can get on tile, and make it slippery. Best bet is go to Home Depot-Loews and see the products they have. Good luck, no matter what you choose, as long as you fix the problem.
