I've had Century Link for home phone and internet since we moved here two years ago this month. I had some problems initially but they resolved to my benefit. I went to their walk-in office in front of Best Buy near Arby's and set up installation.
In Maryland I had Verizon home phone with no long distance for only $21 a month with tax and 768mbps internet for $15.00 a month with tax guaranteed for life at that price. Century Link had nothing that could match those prices. I got home phone with unlimited long distance with Caller ID (they said no long distance wouldn't save that much) plus internet with 2.5mpbs speed for $59.99 a month, with tax it's always $75.
At the walk-in office they said my initial bill would be about $100 with installation. When my first bill arrived it was $204. I called customer service, they said they couldn't do anything about that but would transfer my call to someone who could in Charlotte, NC. Once I spoke to a rep in Charlotte he knocked a $100 off the bill, that made it $104 and raised my internet speed to 10mpbs for no charge.
The service has been great, the internet is called 'to the curb', I have no modem (I plug my router directly into the wall jack) and have almost never had an outage. We did get telemarketing calls every month for their Prism TV, and everytime I told Century Link I wasn't interested, I have Directv. After about the fourth month of receiving such a Prism call, I said you guys should give me call block for my home phone, because I get a lot of unwanted calls. So they added 'Call Block' to my home phone for free and said they wouldn't call again about Prism TV.
