We have been on building an Aspen, but lately have been coveting a golf cart garage. We have been looking a the Sunflower as an option. It is very tempting. More house for the $$ (for our wants and needs) but we are a bit concerned about the frame and Vinyl construction.

Mind you, we are not worried about the integrity of the frame and vinyl home. Bill has been a builder, Real Estate Broker and Mortgage broker in Fl as well as in a couple of other states.

What we have notices is that there seem to be very few frame and vinyl homes in the Designer neighborhoods. We actually think that is a plus for us in building one, but we are wondering if there have actually been any frame and Vinyl home build in our area. I have weeded through over 300 pages of this thread and saw lots of beautiful Stucco homes in various state of construction. No frame and vinyl.

We we be facing a negative reaction from neighbors if we build frame??
We have noticed that all the cottage neighborhoods are vinyl and while driving around there we did not like the appearance of the all vinyl neighborhoods nearly as much as those that had vinyl homes scattered among the stucco homes.

Just wondering what the general consensus is. We are definitely leaning toward the Sunflower at this point as it gives us more home for our $$ and we plan to use the nook (our main objections to most of the floor plans) as a walk in pantry with the arch to the foyer converted to a hall closet from the foyer. WE have also seen some great home offices set up in the nook.
The thing that drew us to the Aspen was no nook and the great wall of glass. It appears we can get both in the Sunflower. So there we stand.

Just usurious after not seeing any Frame and Vinyl homes under construction on this thread.

hello we built a Lilac in Ghilcrhist and closed in May. There is another frame and vinyl house built a few houses down across the street from us. We like the diversity it brings to the streets having both stucco and vinyl homes. We were very happy with the quality of the construction and vinyl homes need less maintenance over their lifetime. Since we were building on a standard lot- we also like that each room that had an exterior wall was a few inches larger than a stucco version- that was nice since we were not able to stretch anything on our size lot. Build the home you like the best- the neighbors will welcome you just the same!
