Second-hand smoke is not "small stuff." Don't go where smoking is permitted if you don't want to be in an environment that allows smoking. It's true that some states were much further advanced in banning smoking in public places, even outside decks at restaurants (CA, for example), so what you are used to may be different depending on where you lived before coming here.

Now you know dogs can't smoke in restaurants.
