One other thing I do parking my cart in a space is to park near the back of the space so people looking for a space can see my cart. If they are in a cart, they can see if there is room for them. If they are in a car, they can see the space is occupied. When I'm in a car it can get frustrating thinking a space is available only to find a cart parked well into the space.
