When I had non-evasive surgery with him...was released to go home BUT NOT to ride in cars or carts once there. I was not to bend, twist or lift anything heavier than a soda can---and rest and do what the home-health-care folks told me. I saw him after two weeks of rest when he said I could get on with "LIFE" and do anything I felt up to. You are wise though to check with him first!! You are correct, he won't do surgery unless it's the last resort. I have a friend whom he gave exercise instructions instead and they're doing fine now!!
