I had a dog with Canine Cognitive Dysfunction (doggy Alzheimer) who was 17 and used to wander. Luckily he no longer went upstairs so we could go to sleep and he could wander downstairs and not affect us. However, if you can hear your beloved dog up all night it can be impossible to rest knowing that he can't settle. I did hear of a vet that advocates melatonin at a dose of 3 to 6 mg for sleep disorder in cats and dogs with CCD. Says it has helped them get a full nights sleep. Maybe you might consider asking your vet if she has ever used it or if she thinks it might help. Good luck. It's never easy to deal with health issues in the pets we love.
