We were just talking about what our Grandfather ate as a snack in the late 1800's (he was born in 1870) and our mother would cut up cucumbers, put them in ice and water and lotsof salt and let them soak for a few hours. Drain the water and put them in a bowl. Can also add sour cream or another way is to cut up onions, add them to the cucumbers and add vinegar. Can leave a bowl out all day and pick at them for a snack or put them in container and take them to golf and snack on them during the game, etc.
Crazy but they are good. That was his snack up to and over being 100.
