Whereas laminate, especially with special underpad, is much warmer and more giving. Obviously porcelain would be more practical for a kitchen because of water spills, and excellent because it couldn't be scratched by our dogs. Well, we'll probably end up with hardwood, Fireboy's favorite, because although he would tell you the opposite, he always gets his way!

Porcelain tile is hard like ceramic. We had laminate in our kitchen and hated it - tore it out and put in tile. laminate and wet areas = trouble!
