Syria is a religious war within its society and we are being asked to be a sub set of the religious war. As the book titled "Year 2000" said the US will never fight Russia or China as they don't fight those wars but will fight over land if it is threatened. We historically fight in religious wars. Lets stay with the land as a basis as as long as so many believe fighting over religion is appropriate we will never get out of the cycle.
