My mom lives at Sumter Place. It is very nice. There are some other up and coming choices as well, and some other established ones. It is important to check them out and see what works for your loved one. When looking, you need to ask other family members what they think; you need to ask residents how they like the food, how much entertainment and activities there are; you need to ask residents and family members how much staff turnover is there; how long has the administrator been there and do they listen to concerns; how to they price the care-is it by levels, or individual need or?? Find out what type of violations they have had. How much transportation for shopping, doctors appointments, outings, are there? Is there golf cart and vehicle parking? Is it golf cart accessible? Are there charging stations? What is the evening activities? What happens when you need more care, can you bring it in if the assisted living is not allowed to provide a level of care that you may need or do you have to move? Can Hospice come in at end of life or do you have to move? Scrtunize, ask questions, talk to family and residents, and be vigilant.
