One thing you need to determine is if the issue is on the router end or your laptop. You can do that by taking you laptop to some place they have wifi, such as a friends house, rec. center, Starbucks, etc. and see if the problem continues. If it does, its the laptop.
You can also get a network cable and plug you laptop directly into the router and thus bypassing the wireless part of the router and see if things improve.
If you determine that the issue is with the wifi end of your router, you might want to try changing the channel # your router is using. I may be conflicting with the signal from one of your neighbors.
