Appliance are not like the used to be for sure!

I really don't know what to think about the appliance pkg. We will try to delete or sell them most likely.

Consumer Reports shows that most appliances have major issues these days. I think a lot of it is all the bells and whistles that we all want and love. More computerization and more to go wrong.

I currently have an LG refrigerator that I love, BUT, it is a replacement for my original LG that actually CAUGHT ON FIRE!! The light that goes on when you open the door, never went off, who knew?? We were smelling what we thought was a gas leak and finally realized that it was the light in the top of the double door, freezer on the bottom refrigerator compartment.

The light had heated up so much that it had burnt the plastic housing around it and melted the white roof of the fridge. It also melted the food containers on the top shelf. Everything was singed black. We called LG, as we had not bought the extended warranty they would not help. The fridge was 15 mo old. They claimed that they had no other similar reports.(hmmm)

I looked my model up on line and there were tons for reports.

I went to the furniture store that sold it to me, they are Awesome!!!!

They did not have to do anything for me, but they did. They replaced the refrigerator with a new LG. This one has tiny little led lights instead. I was reluctant to take another LG. But that was my only option. A free LG or buy something else. For a $2800 refrigerator I decided to take the new LG and it has been awesome.

Obviously a design flaw. And a serious one. But I think all the appliance makers are alike. bells and whistles and intricate design that is expensive to repair and easy to malfunction.

I will go with the top consumer report picks and read the reviews and see what we end up with. If we weren't going to be renting out our home in Utah I would drag that newer LG with us.

The furniture store is RC Wiley. A fantastic store with great prices, sales, inventory and service. I will really, really miss them. If any of you have ski resort homes in Utah, you know them well. I dream of finding a store with the selection, price and integrity when we move. Sigh!!!!!
