I have advised my 19 year old and 22 year old nieces to think about where they get tattoos should they decide to get one (or more than one). There is still bias in more conservative career paths to those who have tattoos that are easily seen (lower arms, neck, etc.).

Our niece (architect) got her naval pierced her senior year in college. Her father was furious. "You are closing doors on job possibilities!" he said.
