Received a bill today from Lake Regional Care Billing for $85 for a visit in April 2008 (5 yrs ago). Bill stated last attempt before sending to collections. Called the company and found out it was the first bill and should have been for $10. Apparently, they are trying to catch up after 5 years. Although I have an issue with the timing, since we had insurance at the time which would have paid all after our fee (which we paid), the supervisor didn't want to listen and said she would send a revised bill and rudely hung up.

My warning is to be alert to a possible catchup phase by this company and don't simply pay the bill. The supervisor claimed that we should not blame the company since it was a "computer error". Wow, what a wonderful excuse!
