It actually bothers me watching ballgames and seeing young fathers with their sons gulping the beer making it ok for the kid.
I know it is made light of on here and other places, but if the first thing you need is a drink...well, just think about it. Maybe a party pooper but NEEDING a drink is a bit scary dont you think ? If you are unable to enjoy yourself except for a few under your belt, then perhaps there are other problems to be addressed.

I agree with what you and Jim9922 have said. I would just add this: It's especially sad when it's combined with obesity. And people encourage it as though drinking is something to be proud of. It's no different than what I observed in high school. For some it continues in college and beyond.
And here we are in retirement and it's still going strong. I think it's an addiction that we all pay for, in one way or another.
