All comes down to how comfortable you are working on the cart. Based on what happened, I suspect you need a wiring diagram for your cart and the ability to measure where voltage is and is not to isolate the issue. The clicking is likely a micro switch or maybe a solenoid/relay.
After that click it could be anything from a fried component, to a wire that burned (I have CARELESSLY put 48 volts down wires that can carry 12). It is like watching a fuse burn down on a stick of dynamite, except faster

Honestly, if you are not comfortable reading a wiring diagram and evaluating where you have voltage and where you do not, I would bring in someone to help.
