I have sold dozens of items on Craigslist as well purchased items from computers to cars. Common sense exhibited during the negotiation is all that is needed to protect your interests. Never deal with anyone without ID verification. Insist on a landline phone number or a scanned driver's license. Meet the person in your garage rather than in your home. Have a friend or rottweiler with you when you buy or sell.
Good Luck.
