Many years ago, I met Joyce Van Patten at a wedding. Her son was marrying my cousin. I had never heard of her, but my mother and aunt were star-struck. I politely talked with her for awhile, resisting the temptation to say that I never her of her. I know people like that are very sensitive to such things. She was nothing to write home about, kind of above it all.
Another time on a airplane, I found myself sitting next to pro wrestler Iron Mike Sharpe, whom I had heard of. Back then then I was somewhat into pro wrestling and we had a great time for 5 hours on a flight from L.A. to N.Y. talking about wrestlers past and present. He even bought me a drink (he didn't drink himself). He was a real nice guy despite being a "bad guy" wrestler. One of my most enjoyable flights ever. Good thing the plane was a 757. He took up a lot of room.
