I traveled the world over with White House Communications Agency (WHCA) people. They were very supportive and great to work with.
Your enlistment choice of air traffic controller would appear to be a path to a better paying civilian job than most of the WHCA specialties, which included telephony, radio operations, crypto communications and electronics. Of course it always looks good on your resume to have had the security clearance to work in the White House.
As a guy who used to fly light aircraft, I remember the old saying:
"Air Traffic Controllers tell pilots where to go."
