I agree. We got behind two grandparents with a young girl about 8 or 9 years old on the Palmetto in March.

It was obviously her first time playing, as she was swinging and missing 4 or 5times for every shot and had at least 8 strokes on every hole just to reach the green on par 3's!

The one guy we were playing with got frustrated and left after 4 holes. We continued on in the hope they would let us play through, but they never did. So we headed home after the 7th green. On the way back, I went to the starter to complain, but as it was dusk, they had already left.

So, if the grandchildren are experienced and can keep up the pace of play, I would be glad to see them on the course. It they are not, best take them to the range, it will prevent a lot of frustrated golfers getting backed up behind you.
