The elephant in the room is liability and lawsuits and I see no recognition of such problems shown in my earlier post from the Miami newspaper on the server having her lip torn by the dog while giving it a bowl of water, and her having 300 stitches and hours of surgery, pain and probably disfigurement and flashbacks.

If your dog or my dog bites a visitor or the A/C repairman in our homes, we are going to be hit with the liability of that person's claims and lawsuits, and our homeowner insurance will be hit and maybe cancelled. We know our own dogs' reliability for staying friendly to other people coming into our homes, but a restaurant owner, employees and patrons have no way of knowing which patrons are realistic about their dog's behavior and obedience, and which ones are not.

The liabilities of the bar serving drunks and having to cut them off before they leave and kill somebody DUI with the car/cart are already a huge thing to have to insure for, without a pet dog starting out as friendly but going berserk when a stranger makes a simple friendly gesture to him.....
