We heard footsteps walking across the second floor. Came out of the front bedroom, down a long hall, through parents and then my room and into the attic. Clear as anything it was a person walking. My mom, not believing in ghosts looked at me and said had to be the dog. We went back to reading and then at about the same moment, looked down at the fireplace hearth and there was the dog sound asleep. We both had a sudden chill, but didn't say anything.
Still have my doubts, but have had three people who's word and integrity is beyond question tell me their personal ghost story experience. And one has been repeated by many many others to this day.
There is a place along a highway in NH where one of the three happened. Has to do with the ghost of an old women walking along the road. This happen to my dad when he was 18. So about 1920 or so. Today there is a restaurant right beside the road there. I was in there for breakfast a few years ago and the place was empty. I didn't know the owner at all, but this older guy was behind the counter so I thought I would just check out the story.
I told him "I was driving up the road a few years ago and saw someone walking by the road. As I got near and passed her she disappeared right in front of the car. I jammed on the brakes and went back and looked to see if I hit her or something but no one was there" So I asked if there was ever a report of someone being hit or something right there? He just looked at me and said "so you have seen her to" He told me he has seen her at least 20 times and knows several others who have as well. He went on to describe her exactly as my dad had told me probably 50 years prior.
So I am still not a true believer, but I do believe there is something we can't define out there.

WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE.........( HAMLET )
"THERE ARE MORE THINGS IN HEAVEN AND EARTH, HORATIO,
THAN ARE DREAMT OF IN YOUR PHILOSOPHY......."
Hamlet:
Swear by my sword
Never to speak of this that you have heard.
Ghost:
[
Beneath] Swear by his sword.
Hamlet:
Well said, old mole, canst work i' th' earth so fast?
A worthy pioner! Once more remove, good friends.
Horatio:
O day and night, but this is wondrous strange!
Hamlet:
And therefore as a stranger give it welcome.
There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio,
Than are dreamt of in your philosophy.
