Via the highway, it was approximately nine miles. He does believe, however, that if someone really wanted to take their golf cart, rather than use the highway as MapQuest directed......there are streets "within" The Villages that they could zig zag to get to Lake Sumter Landing..........or wherever they wanted to end up.

For that distance WE OURSELVES would most definitely use our air conditioned car. Nine miles seems a long distance in a golf cart in the heat.

I do not think the gate or the wall or whatever it truly is will stop those folks from shopping and dining in The Villages.

Having been a merchant himself, with a thriving retail store, had he announced that he would only serve people in our small town of 16,000 souls............and turn away all of the ones who came down from the ski mountain towns a half hour away........or over the border small towns in N.Y State or over the border in Massachusetts (We are close to Williams College in Williamstown, MA........about fifteen minutes away).........he'd never have been as successful a he was.

He drew customers from a huge vicinity by advertising in all of their small newspapers as well as our larger daily paper, plus t.v. and radio ads.

He welcomed them from all the surrounding areas.......and beyond.

So, he can relate to the merchants within the three squares in TV as well as those out on the highways which are open to all people, correct???

However, to put things in perspective, we both understand that if all of a sudden people from 15 miles away began all walking their dogs on our little short cul de sac street.........it would get dicey.

Or, if they connected the end of our street to a distant neighborhood.......and then everyone wanted to take our street as the "shortcut" to our hospital rather than go down the other road and take the present hospital access road...............then we would lose our quiet sleepy little cul de sac neighborhood and peaceful intimate atmosphere.

We always can understand everyone's viewpoint.

In our humble opinion, all viewpoints are valuable.....even if they diverge.

We've lived long enough to know that not everyone thinks alike and that we and they are basically coming from their own "life experience"; thus, we respect all viewpoints.

If everyone thought the same, how boring would that be?

A last wondering...........when I looked up application forms for The Villages Lifelong Learning College........at the bottom it said that all applicants must be 18 years and older?

So, that would then include 18 year olds from the surrounding towns that are not 55+ communities?

Would Stonecrest residents be allowed to take classes at the Lifelong Learning College within the Villages???

I notice it is near the high school and charter school......probably on that highway where the restaurants, etc. are........it's been awhile.

Stonecrest also seems to be right below Lake Weir which does have a nice sandy beach for the grandkids........plus a casual seafood restaurant right at the beach.

Any Stonecrest residents out there???? who read this?

Someone mentioned that they do not have more than one golf course?
I think I read that they have an indoor pool plus several outdoor pools and several rec centers plus several golf courses.

The home we were looking at (similar to others we've looked at) had a birdcaged solar heated pool and large lanai, outdoor shower, on three fairways of the golf course.......

Over 2,000++ sq. ft. of home, golf cart garage plus two car garage, open floor plan.......3 bedrooms,2 bathrooms.......really nice Jacuzzi tub, huge bathroom........plus guest bath.

I think it was the 16th, 17th and 18th fairways........out in the back yard, so to speak.

$289,000 asking price, low taxes.........definitely would be DOUBLE that in TV. It supposedly has a manned gate. Will have to take a look when we come.........soon. We will look at everything and then make up our minds.

You owe it to yourself to check us out. My husband and I have lived here almost five years. We love it. More house for your money. Quiet and peaceful. Lots of activities. You won't be disappointed.
