Here's a link to Sumter County Animal Control. My understanding was that they keep the dog until there is no longer any space for it.
Any new developments on the pooch? The Villages radio station seems to be taking the stance that they do not report on abandoned dogs. This could be an abandoned dog, unfortunately.
