I had heard lost dogs before being announced on the Villages' radio station. Maybe the lawyers got involved and they are afraid someone might go into some weeds with a rattlesnake or water moccasin in them.
Can you imagine the warnings that might come after such a message? "The Villages absolves itself of any liability due to misfortunes which might occur to searchers for lost canines. This is not limited to those foreseeable misfortunes by a reasonable person and may include falling into culverts, wrestling with alligators, falling into gopher tortoise holes, twisting your ankle, pygmy rattlesnake bites, infections through contaminated water, and blah, blah, blah...."
