I actually did not tell anyone that I converted to Catholicism, at the request of my parents because they were afraid of being outcast in our small southern town. This is not historical but personal insight as to why some hated Kennedy even though they believed in the civil rights movement. We look back and think, "crazy people" now but fear makes people do and say crazy things. Great questions by the way..

I was going to mention the anticatholicism so rampant at that time too. I was too young to vote for JFK but he was really something to this young Catholic girl back then. I was a Democrat then, but became much more conservative over time as many do.
Thank heavens that our country has come so far that having a Catholic president and a black president really never became
THE issue. We need good men to fill the space even if they are women. Good leaders who also know how to run a business in the black and care like they are our parent..or our child.
I can't think of anyone who can fulfill my high expectations on either side of the political aisle. We just need a solid patriot, an ethical person with common sense who is brave enough to protect us but soft enough to love us all. A Saint, and very few are saints, so someone who is trying hard to do the right thing.
JFK and Camelot. His beautiful family and that awful day is etched in my heart.
