We spent three winters touring communities around the Carolinas, plus Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona. We also visited other 55+ facilities in other parts of Florida. Some very nice. Then, we visited TV. Drove into Lake Sumter Landing. Lunch at Subway, and got to meet a family from upstate New York. We talked about dogs, and children, and grandchildren. We felt what you felt... the energy... the happiness. It was almost like falling in love. In fact, I guess it really was. We walked around Lake Sumter landing and within an hour we decided this was the place to retire to.
At the sales office we met Jim McLaughlin and he drove us around showing off the rec centers and pools and the different types of houses available.
It took about a year to sell our NH home. In the meantime we visited again just to make sure we were doing the right thing. We were.
In the fall of 2012 we returned to buy a house. Jim showed us pre-owned and new. We settled on a new Gardenia in Charlotte.
Moved in mid November 2012 and have been living in paradise ever since. Great neighborhood... great neighbors... convenient to rec centers and Colony Plaza.
And the best part... for anyone coming from the northeast... there is no snow to shovel.
