Directv is the way to go, if your a sports enthusiast. You get the NFL Sunday ticket "free", the first year. They also give you, "free" movie channels for 3 months. You have to let them know, if you want to cancel these channels before the 3 months are up or you will see it in your bill #4. Reasonably priced, for the channels you get.
I would strongly suggest you get the free upon installation, recording DVR type receiver, (Genie) or request it, within a two week period, or they will not give you a free upgrade, if you want to change it back to the recording type receiver. They informed me there was a $199 fee, to upgrade to the DVR type receiver or I would have to wait until March of 2015. Major bummer of a mistake, on my part.
Another thing, they don't tell you, is that, if you decide to have the satellite dish installed in your yard, as opposed to, on the roof, a $80 charge will be assess to your bill, for this type of installation. An outside company does the installation and not Directv. the truck will have the labeling of Directv but it's a vendor type situation. they really know what they are doing and are very professional.
Overall, Directv rarely goes down, Maybe on a rainy, non sunny day with all cloud covered. If it does, it only goes out, for a few minutes, at it's worse. HD reception is about the same for both companies. I still prefer Directv, as I am a sports nut. IMHO
