there are other charity groups that involve sewing - one meets at Coconut Cove on Monday afternoons, and I think one meets at Paradise. Start reading the Rec News online so you'll know where to go. There's a link on the villages dot com

Also, you can visit any quilt guild chapter as a guest (nearly all meet Tues. morning or afternoon, think there are one or two that meet mondays. Check out qgotv dot org Most have serious and not-so-serious members - fun to just walk around and see what people are doing - everyone happy to show and tell. Look at the chapter website, though, because the monthly business meeting (except for the show and tell part) might be boring to you.

You could also go to the monthly guild meeting (entire guild)- 1st Monday of the month at Laurel Manor at 7 pm. Different speakers and a show and tell, and samples of upcoming classes. Just introduce yourself to whomever you end up sitting near.
