The only truly secure way to reach you or a central station is via the cellular network. I doubt that the DIY systems have this and I think systems like ADT charge extra for this service. Alarm.com is one system that I am aware of that was designed around this threat and ONLY uses cellular technology to communicate with you and/or a monitoring station.
PM me with your email and I'll send you a link to Simplisafe and look at their system. Watch the video. I put one in yesterday. I installed the control pad, 3 door sensors, one motion sensor, a panic button near the bed in the master, a smoke detector, two sirens and a pendent, three yard signs and two window stickers in about 40 minutes. It uses cellular to contact the central station. Cost we $392. Central station monitoring is only $15.95 per month. It is the easiest install I can imagine. Several of my neighbors have them as well. PM me if you want to do this and I can send you a coupon worth 5% off. I expect to get a discount on my home insurance too.
