I saw that same suggestion regarding your car's remote on Facebook a while back. The problem with it is that most bedrooms are too far from your car and if your remote does work, chances are your car is in your garage and the sound to a neighbor would be muffled.
The problem with wasp spray is that your efforts could be sabotaged and the insecticide could be used against you. Chances are, the intruder is stronger than you and faster because you've been asleep and he's ready for anything.
Go to a marine supply store and buy an air horn. If you press that button, I can pretty well promise you that in an enclosed room, no one would be able to function with that noise. It's louder than a house alarm and neighbors will definitely hear it.
Hopefully, none of us will ever need any of this stuff!
