Lowes and Home Depot both sell a quick fix piece for this exact problem...not sure exactly what it is called, but you just cut the pipe where it is broken, remove a small piece, and slide this on with glue on both ends. It compresses, then expands. Hard to explain...you will figure it out when you see the device. I have used it here and it saved having to dig up several feet of yard to expose more pipe.
