I don't remember anyone telling Bates about Green.
BUT ... I loved the episode and thought it was a great way to end. I did think the pregnancy was exceptionally quick and I am concerned about her going to Switzerland to get the child back. Europe was in turmoil at that time. Plus the American Grandmother and her son are going off to tour Europe! I thought the handling of Bates was very good, had more twists and turns than I could have imagined - he's a good man to have around if you need some dirty work done! There was a mention of Black Shirts which means WW2 is coming so this next series should be very exciting.
Also, was the Prince of Wales Edward who married Wallis Simpson?
