Sorry to be so incensed about this but I have much compassion and respect for the elderly.
I agree. But it doesn't just happen to the elderly. When I was young (19 or 20?) I went to court to contest a speeding ticket. I was terrified to have to speak in front of so many people. When I finally got my chance to speak to the judge, he asked me why I was going X miles per hour in a Y zone. And I said, "I didn't realize I was going so fast." Well, the entire courtroom erupted in hysterical laughter and that was the end of my "case". I couldn't regain my composure to say what I really wanted to say, I was a nervous wreck.

What happened was a police car came speeding up behind me at night and stayed about a foot from my rear bumper. I thought it was some nut or a drunk so I speeded up to keep a safe distance. When I speeded up, he put on his flashing lights and gave me a ticket. To this day I never speed up when someone gets on my bumper at night.

Don't laugh: Some people just have a difficult time talking in front of a large group of people.
