I agree there should be 24 hour Urgent Care facilities here, and seeing that you didn't have a chest x-ray done, Urgent Care WOULD have helped and much sooner. I understand/remember that feeling of panic when a baby is ill. Having said that, I too wondered about the fact that it was the baby's mother who decided the child should have an x-ray, not a doctor. If there had been an open urgent care, you might have paid $100 out of pocket but saved your child unnecessary exposure to x-ray.

One of the hospitals where we lived in MI is including in their expansion an on-site urgent care that will be open 24 hours. As patients come into the ER who are not in an emergency situation, they are sent over to the urgent care section.
