I honestly can't recall. I've been a member of Amazon forever and I've had the Kindle app on my computer, tablet and smartphone since it was available. I usually don't buy my e-books. I generally get them from the Sumter Library on-line and one of the formats is sometimes Kindle. Other formats are Overdrive, Adobe Reader and ePUB I think.

I get almost all of my apps through (Google) Play Store.
