The challenge, then, is to eat real foods, and to avoid manufactured ones, not only because of what they do to our bodies, but also to the control center of our bodies, our brains. '

Yes that is the challenge and very hard to do. When my husband had a heart attack and my cholesterol, blood pressure started rising we did a life style change. I buy very little processed foods and eliminated red meat. Most of our meals consist of whole grains, fresh vegetables, nuts, beans, etc.
By eliminating MSG, sodium, red meats and almost all process foods, fast foods and restaurants I was able to manage blood pressure and cholesterol without medication within normal levels. Its the hardest thing I've ever done.
Upon our arrival in TV we do plan to indulge in eating out and enjoy an occasional cheeseburger, steak or pizza. I think moderation is the key.
