Would you be able to share some more information about the circumstances regarding the person involved? I know you don't want to identify the person but I just wonder what happened that they haven't been able to pay their electric bill for two months. There but by the Grace of God I. Since you said a neighbor and you live in Hillsborough I provided information for Sumter County.

Emergency Assistance in Volusia, Lake, Sumter, Marion Counties
The focus of the Emergency Family Services program is a “hand-up” rather than a “hand-out.” The goal is toward self-sufficiency. To that end all financial assistance clients must participate in making a personal case management plan (PCMP). Clients work with a case manager to assess the factors that contributed to their emergency situation and develop a person-centered service plan with specific short-term and long-term goals.
Emergency Services include:
• Rent and mortgage assistance
• Utility assistance
• Bill payment directly to the vendor
• Food Pantry
Emergency Family Services provides assistance for Volusia, Lake, Sumter and Marion County residents who are facing financial difficulties. The program also provides basic needs that include a food pantry. In addition to services at Catholic Charities in Daytona Beach and Leesburg locations,we are also collaborating with Catholic Charities of St. Augustine, Volusia County government, Harvest Food Bank and other local service providers to extend emergency services to remote areas of Volusia County.
