Having visited several prisons in Minnesota as a student attorney with Legal Assistance to Minnesota Prisoners there are some differences. You have very little choices on what you wear, when you go to sleep, when you get up, how much sunlight you get to see, when you shower, etc.
Minnesota Correctional Facility--Stillwater did have a newspaper the inmates could work on called
The Stillwater Mirror.

MCF-- Stillwater also had a barber shop but I would not want to have someone you might have ****ed off in the prison yard with a pair of scissors over my head!
From my understanding, the Florida prisons are much worse than those in Minnesota. And it sounds like you will have to make do with stale bread and bologna as you main stay in some of the jails in Florida.
