Default Depends on both the neighbors and the renter

We rented ours (CYV) out for first 4 yrs - have now been living in ours last 4 years. Neighbors tell me they never even saw some of the tenants. Ones across the street right now (for 2 months) seem to avoid looking anyone in the eye - I did go out of my way and asked them to a driveway party, to which they came.

I play may jongg almost weekly with another renter (long-term) in a neighborhood group.

Other renters seem to already have friends here they know and are not looking for new temporary ones, I think. Some couples rent en masse - 3 or 4 couples scattered in different neighborhoods. And, some neighborhoods are just more social than others. People in established neighborhoods get busy with their set activities. But, in general, I would say that if the tenant wants to have friendly neighbors, they should make a point of introducing themselves and maybe ask some neighbors over for a driveway party or a casual cook-out. They they would probably be included if this is a socializing neighborhood.
