Default Seating at Popular Entertainment

We all know that certain entertainers at the squares draw very large crowds. The best, of course, are Rocky and the Rollers who draw a huge crowd no matter what time of the year. During snowbird season, the crowds will be around 2,000 for one of their shows and of course all the chairs will be taken. In the off-season, the crowd will be about half that but all the chairs will be taken. Best advice is to arrive early, bring your own chair, and occupy it.

Mrs. Buggy and I try to go to see Rocky and the Rollers and we will bring our own chairs and arrive NLT 4 pm, set up our chairs, and one of us will stay in the chair while marking the second one as occupied. Most of the Villages chairs will be set out by that time and people will either be in them or be marked as occupied. Nothing wrong with that if you get there early to mark it and are back by showtime. It is rare to see a vacant chair by 5 pm.

Still there are the people who are oblivious to the seating situation who arrive at 5:15 or 5:30 and wander around looking for a seat and actually take chairs belonging to people dancing - even though they are marked as occupied. We saw this happen Thursday and it took "encouragement" from several others in the section to get these interlopers to un-occupy the chairs.

Of course, this is not the situation with many of the entertainers at the squares who do not draw anywhere near a capacity crowd. If you want to see someone like Carol Ann, Miles Garrett, or DJ Denny Rogers, you will have plenty of room to sit anytime. I am sure there are lots who enjoy those 3 I mentioned - but there is always room at their concerts. No offense to them.
