Default Food-industry lobby pays for bias in food science.

A lot of the bias is coming from The Villages/USF Health Alliance, in my opinion. That's the alliance that's supposed to try to make The Villages America's healthiest hometown. The way I understand it, the USF College of Public Health received a large federal grant. Without that grant, there wouldn't be any health alliance/contract. Keep in mind that federal grants have to be approved and directed by the state and the food industry has lobbyists at both levels.

You have to wonder, what would happen if USF received a large grant and then procedded to recommend against eating processed foods or certain agricultural products like meat or dairy. The answer: They would never again receive any grant money.

The whole system of nutrition education has been corrupted by the money that lobbyists throw around. Money is power and can buy a lot of influence. No doubt the bias is often very subtle but it's always there, bought and paid for by the food industry. There was a good example of it in the newspaper recently.

A USF health professional gave warnings against a vegan diet. Here's the subtle part: Nothing untrue was stated, it just wasn't the whole truth. The net effect was to frighten people away from a vegan diet. The warning was that you could be missing certain nutrients and become malnurished. There was no mention that, if done correctly, a vegan diet will contain all the essential nutrients needed for good health.

Are we to believe that this USF health professional never heard of the Adventist Health Study? 7th. Day Adventists are mostly vegans and vegitarians and live healthier, longer lives than the average American. Their life expectancy is ten years greater than that of the average American.
