We had Progressive (bought in NY State) for 6 years before we moved to Florida. When we got to Florida, the Progressive rate sky-rocketed. On the Motor Home alone, it went from $1,200 to $1,800 and the coverage was less than I had in NY. I called the company directly and did manage to get them to grandfather me for the same coverage for a little less than $1,400 because I was a long term customer with an excellent credit score and outstanding driving record. At the end of that year, it went back to the $1,800 figure and less coverage. I LOVED Progressive, but price won out. I went to Geico (on-line and over the phone) and have been pleased with their rates. I have the car and the motor home with them.

We, in Florida, have a Governor who is VERY insurance company friendly. They are getting great rate hikes and are allowed to severely alter coverage so the companies can keep more money in their pockets. What do think happened with the sinkhole insurance? Big business is really taken care of in this state and the rest of us can suck eggs! Be sure to let your voice heard in the upcoming elections.
