Default I had not checked my email while we were gone.

And I have sad news for all of you who kept John in your prayers. John was a kind and gentle man and a brave one. He was known as Virtual Geezer on this site and his dream was to buy a home here in The Villages and to live out his days. That didn't happen. He has left this earthly home.

John J. Udvari, 67, passed away May 16, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Akron and lived in the area all of his life.

He graduated from Hoban High School in 1964 and was recently employed by Roadway. John was a computer and Ham Radio enthusiast, he talked to people all over the world through his Ham Radio. He loved traveling to Florida to stay at the Villages.

John was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Jeanette Udvari; sister and brother-in-law, Lois and James Lampe. He is survived by his nieces, Deborah Myers of Bradenton, Fla. and Cynthia Lampe of Akron; nephew, James (Angela) Lampe of Akron; great niece and nephews, Matthew Myers, Cassidy Lampe and Ciaran Lampe; family and friends.

We would like to express our deepest gratitude to the doctors and nurses at Summa Cancer Center, to Home Care and Hospice, you took exceptional care of our Uncle John and you should be proud of the work you do. Also to Lori, your presence gave us great comfort and we thank you.

Funeral Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hennessy Funeral Home, (corner of York and Main) 552 N. Main St., Akron with Father Joe Warner officiating. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. 330-376-3032
