I assume that the 50 cent fee does not cover the basic costs of the shuttle. If true, they are already relying on others because the cost is being subsidized by tax dollars. Now, before anyone flames me, I whole heartedly support my tax dollars being used for a,purpose like this. And, I would support and be involved in a "volunteer" driver program to help these folks. But again, I can find no evidence that what the OP says is really happening. It sounds like it is because OP says people have called the county commissioners about it. I just think that there would be some type of public notice that I would have been able to google.
